Youth Engagement Lead

PURPOSE: This position supports the Regional Volunteer Services Department. The Youth Engagement Lead serves as a peer and confidante working corroboratively with the regional Volunteer Services team, specifically the Engagement Specialist, to support National Youth Strategy goals and objectives to educate and engage youth in all aspects of the Red Cross mission.

DESCRIPTION:

This position works directly with the officers of the Region's high school and college Red Cross Clubs (RCC) under the guidance of the Youth Program Manager (Senior Engagement Specialist) to support the RCC efforts to fulfill the required club events each school year and help further the mission of the Red Cross. This position is a mix of in-person and digital communication with both the clubs and the YPM.

TIME REQUIRED:

  • Hours per week will vary, sometimes from less than an hour to possibly more than four if an event is scheduled. Some evening and weekend commitment will be requested.
  • Monthly, an in-person meeting with the VS Department.
  • Yearly, Leadership Development Camp which spans a few days to help prepare the officers of the incoming clubs.
  • Yearly, a mid-year check-in meeting with all officers.
  • Yearly, an end-of-year event to celebrate club achievements.
  • Weekly or bi-weekly check-ins (1:1 meetings) with Youth Program Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • (Required) Experience and desire to work with and lead teens and young adults
  • (Preferred) Experience in non-profit organization
  • (Required) Cultural sensitivity to diverse groups
  • (Required) Ability to work with groups of youth
  • (Required) Comfort with using email, virtual meeting software, and online platforms
  • (Required) Proficiency with Outlook and related Microsoft resources (teams, calendar)
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of Volunteer Connection (but will train!)
  • (Required) Knowledge and Enthusiasm for the Red Cross Mission and Programs (training will be included)
