Willing Hands tends a number of gardens in the Upper Valley, including sites at Cedar Circle Farm, Dartmouth Hitchcock Health, and at home at our own Norwich facility. We plant, weed (and weed some more!), fertilize, harvest, wash, and box up thousands of pounds of vegetables. We grow a wide variety of produce-from the ordinary (peas and carrots) to slightly more exotic (ground cherries and watermelon). We provide all the necessary tools and training for all tasks.

Weekly gardening sessions during the growing season include:

  • Tuesday at Cedar Circle Farm in Thetford
  • Tuesday at the Willing Hands Facility in Norwich
  • Wednesday at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Farmacy Garden in Lebanon
  • Thursday at Cedar Circle Farm in Thetford
  • Saturday at Cedar Circle Farm in Thetford

About WILLING HANDS ENTERPRISES

Location:

198 CHURCH ST, NORWICH, VT 05055, US

Mission Statement

Willing Hands' mission is to reduce food waste and expand equitable and reliable access to fresh food.

Description

At Willing Hands, w e collect and harvest perishable food from food recovery partners throughout the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. These partners include grocery stores, produce wholesalers, bakeries, volunteer-led gardens, and local farms. We also glean crops from our partner farms and grow fresh produce in our own gardens.

Then, we distribute this food to more than 80 social service organizations , including food shelves, community meal sites, shelters/transitional and low-income housing developments, senior centers, and nonprofits serving those at risk of food insecurity throughout the region. Through these partnerships, Willing Hands reaches over 30,000 people per year.

Willing Hands could not do this work without the contributions of many generous volunteers who help harvest food at our gleans, grow food in our gardens, and support the logistics of our operations.
