Companionship 'Vet to Vet' Volunteer for Hospice Patients

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: gentiva hospice

Veteran companionship volunteer are needed to visit with and enrich the quality of life for fellow Veteran patients with a life-shortening diagnosis who are receiving hospice care. This program allows volunteers to matched one on one with another veteran patient. The volunteer would simply offer companionship/friendship through regular visits. The volunteers can also set their own schedule that is convenient for both parties. Typically, a volunteer would make a companionship visit 2-4 times monthly for approx. 30 minutes to a couple hours. Additionally, veteran volunteers may occasionally be called upon to make special "pinning" or "final salute" one-time visits to assist in honoring a veteran with a framed certificate and pins. This is a wonderful way to make a difference for fellow veterans. This is an extremely meaningful and rewarding way.
