Recruiting Organization: Save the Water™

  • This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and as an Associate, you are required to contribute a minimum of 5 hours per week.
  • Associates must be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST Timezone and be responsive to emails within 48 hours.
  • STW(tm) will provide a "letter of recommendation" to volunteers, students & professionals who are able to showcase outstanding performance for school/university credit and for professional references.

Save the Water(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW(tm) also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.

Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW(tm) because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. We learn and collaborate in an open and empowering work environment to find long term solutions to water contamination problem. Our vision is "Contamination free, healthy water for all"

SUMMARY:

Research on water-related articles for the Save The Water website.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Find a minimum of one (1) per week on the topics of water contamination and/or new water technology (4 per month)
  • Write a minimum of one (1) research-based article per month according to Writing Guidelines on a topic approved by the Project Lead or Director related to water contamination or water treatment technology
  • Post article links/topics on Monthly Publishing Spreadsheet for Project Leader or Director approval
  • Accurately cite articles from professionally appropriate sources according to guidelines and submit them by the deadline stated on Monthly Publishing Spreadsheet
  • Assist other STW™ groups with writing assignments or research for writing assignments as needed
  • Research articles from appropriate sources according to guidelines as assigned
  • Maintain volunteer responsibilities and correspondence with Publishing staff
  • Report to Project Leader for the given project team
  • Attend Publishing group’s monthly meeting.
  • Complete the PWR at least on weekly minimum basis
  • Writing on water issues for external organizations

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.
  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.
  • Understanding of Peer Reviewed Sources
