Around 2 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the US in 2024. For many patients, there are obstacles they must overcome before they can even begin their cancer fight. Transportation can be one of the biggest roadblocks to timely cancer care. It’s crucial that patients enter treatment quickly upon diagnosis and complete their treatment. Delays in care, missed appointments, and failure to complete treatment leads to poor outcomes. Research indicates a critical factor determining a favorable outcome for cancer treatments are the timely start and completion of needed care. Transportation is an integral part of successful cancer treatment, yet it’s a common challenge for many patients and their families.‚Äč

Help cancer patients in your community get to life-saving medical appointments.

Road To Recovery drivers donate their time and vehicle to help cancer patients with limited or no transportation get to treatments.

You choose the rides that work with your schedule. Rides are weekdays. We hope drivers provide 2 rides per month minimum; some help weekly if available.

Volunteer drivers are ages 18-84 and

  • a safe driving record,
  • a current license, reliable vehicle, and insurance,
  • and comfortable using technology.

We would love your help!

To sign up, respond via Volunteer Match or visit the American Cancer Society at cancer.org/drive. Search for Road To Recovery in your zip code to learn more and start training.
