Greetings! We are the TSA K9 unit at San Antonio International Airport, seeking volunteers for our training exercises. No special skills are needed, just a minimum age of eighteen. Volunteers must be able to arrive at the location independently and navigate without assistance. As a volunteer, you'll act as a passenger in a realistic setting. On the day you report, a team member will meet you to explain the day's training activities with the K9 teams. Then, the excitement begins! Essentially, you'll engage in a game of hide and seek with our K9s. Interested? It's a lot of fun! To sign up, please visit https://signup.com/go/RDSVaZk . You're eligible to participate once every forty-five days, as our dogs are quite perceptive. For inquiries, contact P.A. Miller at 210-749-5992. We appreciate your interest and eagerly anticipate your contribution to our program!

About TSA SAT K9

Location:

1303 N. Terminal Drive, San Antonio, TX 78216, US

Mission Statement

Protect the nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce.

Description

On the morning of September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed in a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The attacks resulted in the creation of the Transportation Security Administration, designed to prevent similar attacks in the future. Driven by a desire to help our nation, tens of thousands of people joined TSA and committed themselves to strengthening our transportation systems while ensuring the freedom of movement for people and commerce.

The TSA National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program (NEDCTP) exists to deter and detect the introduction of explosive devices into the transportation system. In addition, bomb threats cause disruption of air, land and sea commerce, and pose an unacceptable danger to the traveling public and should be resolved quickly. Explosives Detection Canine Teams are a proven reliable resource to detect explosives and are a key component in a balanced counter-sabotage program. The use of highly trained Explosives Detection Canine Teams is also a proven deterrent to terrorism directed towards transportation systems and provides a timely and mobile response support to facilities, rail stations, airports, passenger terminals, seaports and surface carriers.
