Recruiting Organization: Youth Technology Corps

Youth Technology Corps is turning students into mentors, bridging the digital divide, and spreading education across borders by working through an international team of partners that is growing more rapidly than we can serve. We turn High School Students into teachers who themselves inspire students around the globe to do the same. One example is taking place in Evanston, Illinois, where students are offering synchronous peer-to-virtual classes with students in Ethiopia, Students in Ethiopia are teaching youth in Namibia a basic introduction to engineering using Arduino. In Cicero Illinois, Morton East High Schoolers are teaching the same curriculum in Spanish with Technical English to students in Durango, Mexico, who are preparing to teach in Mezquital. The idea can be compared (loosely with no affiliation) to a live Kahn Academy version of the The Boy/Girl Scouts and we are looking for those who want to help us design our plans to scale, using students at universities in the states to be the agents of change that allow more people to use our network to share educational opportunities around the globe. Our two small domestic programs are teaching hundreds, and we are getting interest from programs around the globe to join us.
