Description

Mothers United and Empowered, In., is a 501c3 organization that provides maternity shelter to pregnant women 18 years of age and above who are experiencing their first pregnancy. Women are eligible for admission upon immediate proof of pregnancy. They may remain at the maternity home for 24 months after the birth of their child. The house will operate 24/7. A 1-800 line will be available for overnight referrals between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. A woman can walk in or be referred by organizations, clinics, and hospitals.
Pregnant women will be triaged upon admission. Pre- and postnatal medical care for mothers and their children will be provided at the surrounding Putnam County medical facilities. Aftercare services will be provided for up to six months to maintain the continuation of services. We will support our mothers by facilitating referrals to community resources where appropriate.
