About Agape National Academy of Music (ANAM)

Location:

2190 Northlake Pkwy, 2117, Tucker, GA 30084, US

Mission Statement

The mission of ANAM is to transform and enrich lives and communities by offering high-quality, free, and low-cost instruction in music to children and youth, providing leadership and life skills, and performance opportunities that contribute to the cultural life of Liberian communities.

Description

ANAM is the only fully operational music school located in Liberia - a small country in West Africa. It provides both free and low-cost individual and group music and arts instruction to underprivileged children as well as training in music education, playing instruments by ear, and worship and leadership to young men and women who go on to lead the music and worship programs of local churches throughout the country.

In recent years, the people of Liberia have suffered the turbulence of civil wars, a cataclysmic Ebola outbreak, and the devastating effects of the COVID pandemic. Throughout this time schools were closed, and an entire generation of children missed out on being educated. Liberia is currently rebuilding but the process is slow, and it will take all of us working together to ensure future generations of Liberians have the education and support needed to be successful.

ANAM is contributing to the rebuilding of Liberia by providing children and young adults with free and low-cost individual and group music lessons, empowering them to become leaders in their communities. Since ANAM's establishment in 2008, it has provided music instructions to over 600 students. Many of its former students are employed or volunteering as musicians in their local churches, schools and communities.
