We're looking for volunteers for regular days, periodic help, and as special guests!
Being the caregiver to someone with dementia can be very rewarding, but it can also be exhausting and stressful. Bath Brunswick Respite Care was founded over 30 years ago to give these caregivers a break while providing a safe and engaging environment for their loved ones that we call The Club. Members of The Club do crafts, play games, listen to music, and just talk to other people who are going through the same changes that they are. This time is incredibly beneficial to both our community of caregivers who can go to the grocery, sit down with friends, or even go to work and also our members who are all at varying stages of their journey through dementia. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. There is always one Program Manager who does the programming for the day and usually two to three volunteers who help with everything from setting out lunch and cleaning up to helping members cut paper or string beads for crafts. We have a morning session (9-12:30), an afternoon session (12:30-4), and a full day option (9-4) and volunteers are usually scheduled for 15 to 30 minutes on either end of that (ie: the afternoon session would be 12:15-4:30). We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to take on a regular weekly or biweekly shift (most of our volunteers do this), but we also love those who want to come in once in a while to lead a craft, organize the kitchen, revamp our bulletin board, or help with one of a million little things that keep our program running smoothly.

Please reach out to Ashley Butterfield, the Operations Coordinator, at ashley@respite-care.org for more information or to schedule a tour!

We offer the caregivers of those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia a break by providing a respite from their very important and often stressful role. Our adult day program gives caregivers a safe place for their loved ones to spend a morning, afternoon, or full day playing games, doing art, and socializing in an intentional and supportive environment.

Members come to our Bath Maine campus from all over the mid coast: Freeport, Dameriscotta, Lisbon, Georgetown, Harpswell and so many more towns are served by this program and amazing volunteers like you make that possible.
