We Need You- Volunteerism at the Y

Position Summary: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are looking for those with the ability to coach and or referee youth soccer for a single day community tournament. You will be asked to encourage, motivate, and instruct youth soccer players to perform to the best of their abilities.

Essential Functions:
For Coach:
1. Actively engage with approximately 10 youth on your team to create a fun, welcoming environment.
2. Facilitate short sided soccer games for youth.
3. Plan and facilitate 30 minutes of practice with your team.

For Referee:
1. Officiate small sided youth soccer games.
2. Encourage hard work, teamwork, and a fun atmosphere for the youth involved.

Qualifications:

  • General Soccer knowledge
  • Understand the role of volunteerism at the YMCA

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is required to stand for long periods of time, kneel, squat, speak to children at eye level. If fulfilling the referee position, the volunteer will be required to run forward, backward, change speed and direction, and speak loudly to instruct youth on the soccer field.
