As a Social Media Intern at MRD, you will play a vital role in our marketing and communications efforts. This unpaid internship is designed for a motivated student majoring in marketing or communications. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, and public relations within the WFTDA industry. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the creation and delivery of engaging social media posts, monitoring audience interactions, assisting in the development of social media strategies, and supporting written communications and PR initiatives. This position offers a blend of creative content creation, data analysis, and collaborative teamwork, providing you with valuable skills and insights into the dynamic world of insurance marketing. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-practice collaboration as needed.

Hours: Part-time, approximately 5-15 hours per week


  • Assist in the creation and curation of engaging content for social media platforms, including posts, graphics, videos, and stories.
  • Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
  • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond or escalate as necessary.
  • Use social media management tools to schedule posts, track performance metrics, and analyze audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and Board members to brainstorm and create compelling content that aligns with the league’s brand voice and goals.
  • Research industry trends, news, and relevant topics to incorporate into social media content.
  • Edit and optimize content for each social media platform, considering best practices for maximum reach and engagement.
  • Assist in developing and executing social media strategies to grow the league’s online presence and reach target audiences.
  • Monitor social media analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement rates, follower growth, and website traffic.
  • Assist in drafting written communications, including press releases, blog posts, and newsletter articles, to promote news, events, and initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as marketing and events to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all communications channels.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, vendors, and partners on social media campaigns, sponsored content, and promotional activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and training opportunities to contribute ideas and stay updated on trends and best practices.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the marketing team and other stakeholders, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement and optimization.


  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to generate engaging content ideas.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Reliable source of transportation.
  • Attending league practices, meetings and events, as needed.
  • 5-15 hours max per week, depending on scheduled league events.


  • Hands-on experience in social media marketing and communications within a women-led sports industry.
