Recruiting Organization: Direction Home Akron Canton - Long Term Care Ombudsman Region 9

As a Long-Term Care Ombudsman Volunteer, you are the eyes and ears in long-term care facilities and a voice for residents. The Ombudsman Program works to advocate for residents living in long-term care settings to ensure they receive the best care possible. We investigate concerns of care and treatment and make observations on the conditions of the facility to ensure that residents have great quality of life and quality of care. Being there means better care, and with your help we can ensure that residents are educated on their rights and their concerns are addressed. Don't hesitate, join a group of wonderful advocates today...you can be the reason a resident's life has changed for the better!

As an Ombudsman Volunteer, you will receive comprehensive training on how to be an advocate and gain experience during visits to local nursing homes or assisted livings. Training can be done in person or virtually and once training is finished, you will become a Certified Ombudsman Volunteer can visit residents on your own schedule (weekends and evenings included) at a nursing home convenient for you. We cover 9 counties in Ohio including Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas.
