Help strengthen families and prevent child abuse. Become a Parenting Stress Helpline Volunteer!

Family Path’s Parenting Stress Helpline provides phone counseling, case management, referrals, and resources to all parents (including foster/adoptive/caregivers) living in Alameda County. Our Helpline Volunteers come from many diverse backgrounds and offer unique peer support to callers. No prior experience is necessary, and you do not need to be a parent to volunteer with us.

This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity for:
* Students (in the counseling, social work and other human service fields) who want to gain valuable work experience
* Parents/Caregivers who want to support other parents/caregivers
* Anybody who wants to make a difference in the lives of parents and families

REQUIREMENTS
* Be over the age of 18 years old
* Have Proficient Computer Skills
* Can Multitask While on a Call (take notes, find resources etc.)
* Commit to one 2-4 hour shift per week for a year
* Complete our 4-day Pre-Service Training

Required 4-day Pre-Service Training Dates:
Friday 9/13 10AM-5PM (In-Person, Oakland office)
Saturday 9/14 10AM-5PM (Virtual)
Friday 9/27 10AM-5PM (In-Person, Oakland office)
Sunday 9/29 10AM-5PM (In-Person, Oakland office)

Our 4-day Pre-Service Training equips volunteers with information about mental health/parenting and the skills needed to support our callers. Please note that volunteers must attend all 4 days of this training before they can join the Parenting Stress Helpline. If you cannot attend our training this year but want to be considered for future opportunities, feel free to apply with us and notify us of your situation.
