Do you want to learn how to facilitate a support group? Do you have time to help caregivers of people living with dementia?
Support groups play an important role in supporting caregivers who are dealing with the ups and downs that come with caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease. During support groups, people share their experiences, tips for coping and often form a common and lasting bond, helping to ease the isolation of caregiving. Leading a support group can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
Alzheimer's Los Angeles is looking for caring individuals who are willing to become trained support group facilitators. Both professionals and laypeople can become support group facilitators, and we will provide you the tools to make it happen. We would like you to commit to facilitating a group at least once per month.
The upcoming virtual Support Group Facilitator Training will be held on June 25th from 1:00-4:00pm. We also have a pre-recorded training if you are unable to attend the scheduled virtual training. If you are interested in becoming a support group facilitator, please contact Anne Oh, Sr. Manager of Support Groups & Activity Programs, at aoh@alzla.org.
