Summer Community Service: Mail-in Handwritten Notes for Students

Post It Love's summer goal is to collectively write 40,000 handwritten notes of encouragement for 2nd to 5th-grade students in Houston, TX for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a simple and meaningful way to make a significant impact on the lives of elementary students from the comfort of your own home. By creating uplifting notes, you can help boost their self-esteem, motivation, and overall well-being.

To participate, follow these instructions:

1. Cut 3x5 index cards in half to create two note cards from each index card. Please use only index cards, in any color.
2. Handwrite uplifting messages, inspiring quotes, or words of encouragement on each half index card.
3. Keep messages positive, age-appropriate, and avoid any religious, political, or controversial content.
4. Share words of motivation, such as "You've got this!" or "Keep shining!" Sign off your note with your first name and "Best, Post it Love" to make the note more personal.
5. Avoid sharing personal information or anything that could be misinterpreted. Refrain from using phrases like "You are hot" or "Be a better person."
6. Mail your completed notes to Post It Love for distribution to students in need. The mailing address is 9550 Spring Green Blvd. 408-338 Katy, TX 77494.

Every 25 Post it Love notes you create equals 1 volunteer hour, and there is no limit to the number of notes you can send in. If you require volunteer hours, please print and fill out the volunteer sheet included with your package. To ensure your community service hours can be verified, please make sure your notes meet the guidelines provided. Once Post It Love receives your package, they will email you a signed copy of your volunteer hours.

HOW IT WORKS: Upon receiving your Love Notes, Post It Love distributes them to their five partnering elementary schools. Each week, for all 36 weeks of the school year, students receive one love note to uplift and encourage them to have a great week. Post It Love currently supports 2nd to 5th-grade students throughout Houston, TX, but they are looking to expand beyond Houston and into different states. However, they need your help to keep the Post it Love Mission alive. You can create Post it Love notes at any time and any place, making it a super easy way to make a huge impact.
