Recruiting Organization: Mental Health America of Kentucky
Outreach volunteers help get the word out about mental health screenings, share free educational materials, and interact with the public.
You'll be setting up, tearing down, and working at tables at events such as health fairs, community gatherings, and even festivals.
As a volunteer, you'll get to choose the events you help with, and the dates and times. We will train you in our mission, vision, and common questions and concerns faced in public.
We're a statewide nonprofit with a limited geographic presence, and YOU are a key to helping spread the word about us, our work, and the very important message that "there's no health without mental health" and we all deserve to be mentally healthy.
Individuals must be outgoing, have a basic understanding of our organization (read our website), be able to interact with the entire public - including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and rural individuals across Kentucky.
We prefer volunteers be over 18 and they must hae their own transportation. This does not mean that high school and junior high students aren't welcome to assist - they'd just serve a lesser role and must be paired with adults in each instance.
As a volunteer, you will receive Volunteer Orientation and Question Persuade Refer suicide prevention training. You will also be eligible to join our virtual Mental Health First Aid courses for free or at a reduced rate.
When applying, please highlight your experiences with the public, and any tabling experience you have as a job, with your place of worship, with school groups, etc.
