Easy, fun 90-min opportunity in support of the next generation of classical music superstars at the Klein String Composition for young string players at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (at Van Ness and Market) You'll:

  • greet guests attending the Competition, keep track of registration, and help them make donations (6/1 and 6/2 shifts)
or
  • seat guests attending the Competition in the hall (6/1 and 6/2 shifts)
or
  • help serve food and drinks at the party reception (6/2 evening shift)
All participants are welcome to watch the semifinals after seating any latecomers after 30 minutes into the competition on 6/1 or 6/2 or before the reception on 6/2!

  • Sun Jun 02, 2024 - afternoon / 02:00 PM to 03:30 PM

Mission Statement

For almost five decades, we’ve been dedicated to our mission of nurturing and championing the world’s finest young string players. We seek to develop wider audiences for classical music through public concerts, master classes and community outreach, with The Irving M. Klein International String Competition (The Klein) as our entry point. The Klein takes place over one weekend each June at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where audiences in-person and worldwide can see the classical superstars of tomorrow!

Description

We support these exceptional players early in their careers, assisting them with the development of professional and performance skills, encouraging their community involvement, and providing them performance opportunities and monetary support.

The Klein has enjoyed international acclaim as one of the most prestigious classical music competitions in the world. It’s recognized for the high caliber of the contestants, its unique, nurturing environment, and its commitment to the commissioning of new works. We exist to serve the next generation of string performers, helping them to launch their careers.
