At LAIT911, we're dedicated to providing timely safety information and hands-on support to help the residents of Los Angeles handle daily emergencies. Our work is powered by the commitment of our volunteers. We invite you to join us by contributing 5-10 hours per month to make a substantial difference in our community.

We offer a range of volunteer roles suitable for individuals both in and outside of Los Angeles. Role responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring and Alerting: Sending out emergency alerts and providing updates on active incidents such as wildfires, shootings, or major traffic collisions.
  • Public Liaison: Acting as a connector between first responders, government agencies, and the public.
  • Event Participation: Promoting public safety and disaster preparedness at in-person events and through creating educational content.
  • Emergency Response: Providing on-site assistance at disaster scenes, requiring physical fitness and specific training.
  • Medical Support: Offering medical care and first aid at large-scale public events.
  • Government Collaboration: Engaging with local government to enhance public safety measures.

Requirements:

  • Willing to donate 5-15 hours per month.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public, government agencies, and team members.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary for roles; reliable access to a computer and stable internet connection for remote positions.
  • Certain roles may require physical fitness and the ability to respond to emergency scenes.
  • Must have a clean driving record for roles involving deployment.
  • Strong commitment, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and flexible schedule

  • No prior formal education in disaster management required; willingness to undergo provided training for specific roles but basic understanding of fire and police terminology is helpful.
  • Prior experience in medical assistance, event management, or government relations is a plus but not required.
  • Interest in public safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster response.
