This position functions virtually for Cane River Creole National Historical Park. The work involves transcribing park text into French. The volunteer will provide the work and assistance necessary to virtually support park staff in their mission to provide information to the many French visitors to the park .


Major Duties

Transcribing

  • Ability to read and transcribe text in both English and French.
  • Carefully edit and proofread transcriptions.
  • Ability to provide written captions depicting and describing graphs, data, and photographs.

Additional Opportunities/Skills

  • Researching for original projects.
  • Ability to find, record, and share reliable resources.
  • Carefully edit and fact-check materials to make sure information is correct.
  • Ability to assist staff on a project-by-project bias.

Knowledge and Skills Required


The knowledge, skills and abilities for each project may vary, but the basic requirements are:

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate and keep an organized record of work.
