About STAR House:
STAR House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency overnight care and services for children aged birth through 6 years in Ramsey County. Our mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by offering temporary shelter, resources, and support for caregivers to achieve stability and thrive.
Position Overview:
STAR House is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Grants Committee. As a Grants Committee member, you will work alongside experienced grant writers to secure funding for our organization. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable skills in grant writing and fundraising while making a meaningful impact in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to research and identify potential grant opportunities
- Assist with writing and editing grant proposals
- Work closely with the Grants Committee Chair to ensure deadlines are met
- Attend monthly virtual meetings to discuss progress and upcoming grants
Qualifications:
- Strong written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent research abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some experience with grant writing or fundraising is preferred but not required

STAR House is crisis nursery which exists to provide a temporary home away from home for children and supportive services to uplift and strengthen the entire family.
Description
As a nonprofit corporation, STAR House will offer free, safe, holistic, and trauma-informed care to children in an overnight care facility. Parents/guardians will become a part of our support network, and be encouraged to care for themselves and/or receive services to overcome barriers or life stressors they may be facing such as housing instability, financial instability, inadequate childcare, domestic violence, etc. We will partner with other community services to make available the resources, care, and support that the family desires. We will create a safe home away from home for children in early childhood.
