Bascom Library needs one volunteer to help teach and play chess at our Chess Club for Kids every Thursday from 4:00-5:30 PM. This is an in-person program in the library children's area.

This opportunity requires consistently showing up each Thursday afternoon (exceptions can be made of course, but please give me timely notice if you cannot make it to the program on a particular Thursday). Ideally, the volunteer can make a commitment of at least 3-6 months. The volunteer must be at least 18 years old, know how to play and teach chess, have a positive attitude, and be good at working with children. All program supplies will be provided by the library.

After receiving word of interest, I'll arrange an interview if you seem like a good fit. If accepted, the volunteer must go through the application process to be a San Jose Public Library volunteer, which will include a fingerprint check.
