The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia - by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. We would love to have you join us in the fight to end Alzheimer’s here in Monterey County!

The Alzheimer's Association depends on volunteers like you to help us expand the reach of our programs and services and engage our communities. We have many volunteer opportunities available, including:

  • Community Educator : Deliver the Association's various education programs to different organizations in the community. Training and materials are provided for each program and staff will schedule the programs based on the volunteer's availability.
  • Community Representative : Represent the Association at outreach and health fairs in the community. Volunteers staff a resource table, hand out brochures and flyers, and answer questions about the Alzheimer's Association.
  • Support Group Facilitator : Co-facilitate a monthly support group for caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's or another dementia. Help facilitate conversation for the members of the group and provide resources as needed.
  • Walk to End Azheimer's Committee Member : Be a part of a volunteer-led planning committee for the Walk to help organize event logistics, community engagement, fundraising, sponsorships, and more.

We will provide the training, tools, and resources you need to be successful and feel supported in your volunteer role. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please reach out to Jordan Berg, Community Engagement Specialist at jaberg@alz.org or call (831) 275-4253. Mission Statement

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision, A world without Alzheimer's disease.

Description

We provide programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and others in the San Francisco Bay Area affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Outside the federal government, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest research funder in the country and offers advocacy opportunities to make public policy change.

At the Alzheimer's Association, diversity and inclusion are vital to our mission. The Association leads strategic initiatives to support diversity and a culture of inclusivity. These strategic initiatives also strengthen outreach to all populations, providing communities with resources and support to address the Alzheimer’s crisis. By partnering with organizations locally and nationally to advance diversity and inclusion, the Association can broaden its reach in all communities.
