Please visit the new page to apply.
At For the Love of Reading, we do strategic book giveaways in elementary schools for Pre-K thru 5th grades. We provide two giveaways per year, per grade. With a fantastic selection of engaging books to choose from, children can take home two new books at each giveaway.
- Set Up/Tear Down - Be the 'muscle' for us! Help carry books in and out of schools on giveaway days, and set-up books at the event.
- Student/Book Support - Mingle with the students as they enjoy picking out their brand new books! Help them find something that gets them excited about reading.

About FOR THE LOVE OF READING

Mission Statement
For the Love of Reading exists to expand the minds and hearts of students in Knox County Schools through the pure joy of reading.
Description
We provide a "book store experience" twice a year for children in grades Pre-K through 5th, where they can choose from a wide variety of fantastic titles. We aim to provide books that act as mirrors and windows, in which children can see themselves represented and understand that their stories are valued. In addition, volunteer readers bring enthusiasm to classrooms every week. By providing these resources, we hope to help close the achievement disparities and bring the power of good books to our underserved Knoxville communities!
