Books of Joy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to empower children in under-served communities to achieve their full potential through education. We partner with local communities to provide books, school supplies, create educational programs and establish learning environments to promote literacy. Our organization is entirely run by volunteers. We are seeking a Development Lead volunteer to develop new strategies for increasing individual donations and corporate sponsorships with a strong focus on generating revenue streams that sustain our programs and support our mission.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies for increasing individual donations and corporate sponsorships
• Implement fundraising plans to generate donations; build and maintain external partnerships that expand our reach and raise visibility
• Identify donor prospects - individuals and businesses - through research and networking; understand the needs and interests of donors and prospects in order to develop positive relationships

Qualifications:

• Experienced in fundraising and business development; proficiency with a variety of fundraising models, including individual giving, corporate giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising
• Highly motivated, organized and detail oriented with the ability to work as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
