Volunteers and kayakers needed!
To help The San Diego River Park Foundation kick off our week-long River Days festivities, we are looking for shore volunteers and up to 10 kayakers to get in the water in the riverbed by Fashion Valley Mall to help us with an ongoing project to remove hard-to-reach stormwater debris floating in the water. This is an effort that we started after the winter rains, and we’re looking to accomplish a trash free river in this area by May!
We are looking for two types of volunteers:
- Paddlers who can bring their own kayak, paddle, and life vest. Kayakers will be in the water from 10 am - noon.
- Shoreline volunteers who can assist the kayakers removing trash from the riverbed, and picking up litter along the shore.
Due to the nature of this event kayakers should be 18 and over, but volunteers of all ages are welcomed to join on the shoreline!
Please RSVP below, AND if you are interested in being 1 of the 10 kayakers for this event email rachel@sandiegoriver.org as soon as possible to reserve your spot today!
What to bring:
- Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy closed-toed shoes for protection
- Please wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
- All necessary tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves if you prefer
- Please bring a reusable water bottle, so we can limit single-use plastic
