Vigil/EMC Volunteers Needed for Hospice!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care

Crossroads Hospice offers vigil service called Even More Care (EMC) for patients and families if they would like the extra assistance when the time comes. Some things that an EMC volunteer might do is:

- Provide a calming presence: they can sit, hold the patient's hand, dim the lights, or play music
- Offer emotional support: they can speak or read to the patient, and ease their fears and anxieties
- Help with comfort measures: they can help the patient feel safe and secure, make sure supplies are available for comfort measures and assist with minimal comfort measures if comfortable
- Give family respite: they can allow family members to rest by sitting vigil overnight or whenever the family needs a break
- Support caregivers: they can give caregivers peach of mind that someone is present

Hospice EMC/Vigil volunteers must first complete training and serve as patient/family support volunteers.

Mission Statement

Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care is committed to being at the forefront of the hospice care industry, to continually shape the way palliative care is viewed and administered so that everyone can expect more from us.

Description

Expect More From Us. We Do. Why not? That's a question we ask ourselves every day. In fact it is the question responsible for our beginning and has made us what we are today. Because "why not?" helps us find new and better ways to deliver hospice care to patients, families, caregivers, and health care professionals alike. It helps us connect with our communities, share our knowledge, be accessible 24/7, innovate, lead, and raise the bar. In fact "why not?" has helped us create a hospice experience we believe is second to none...and are confident you'll agree.
