Call for Volunteers for Pondamania on Saturday, June 8th, 2024!

We are searching for volunteers to sign up and help with our summer event! Check out more about these garden events at capefearbg.org. Volunteers will be required to help set up, assist with various garden activities, and clean up the event. Please complete the volunteer application (linked above) at least one week before the event to establish contact with the volunteer coordinator.

Please bring a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, and cash if you plan to purchase food from vendors. Volunteer hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the event day.

On June 8, the Kids are taking over the Garden! Pondamania 2024 - A Children’s Art Explosion will celebrate 6 years of combining art with nature. Pondamania is a day filled with various art activities, including visual arts, dancing, garden exploration, animals, food, and fun.

This year, our theme is What Can You Do With a Rock, based on the book of the same name.

Events include climbing walls, the Aurora Fossil Museum, miniature farm animals, making pet rocks and geodes, mining, cairn building, story reading, rock poetry, and more!

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Cape Fear Botanical Garden is to enrich, inspire and serve the Cape Fear Region as a dynamic center for the collection, culture, and aesthetic display of plants; to encourage the enjoyment of the natural beauty of plants and birds; to promote environmental stewardship; and to provide educational and research resources for the community.

Description

Situated on the bluffs of the Cape Fear River, at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and the Cross Creek River, The Cape Fear Botanical Garden maintains original, old growth forest and plants indigenous to the area. The 85-acre garden is comprised of both formal, cultivated gardens and natural woodland areas intersected with a network of over 3 miles of barrier-free foot-trails with interpretive signs that provide for a scenic and educational exploration of the forest above the river.

The Garden offers educational opportunities, tours, and various seasonal events, therapeutic horticulture workshops that cater to seniors, groups/ individuals with diverse needs and much more. Volunteer with us, we are interested in seeing what you have to offer !
