Durhams Hope for Kids is a newly established nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children in our community. We are excited to build our Board of Directors and are seeking passionate individuals to help shape the future of our organization.

4 hours a month commitment**



We are looking for mission-aligned individuals with strong collaboration, communication, implementation, and strategic skills, a commitment to DEI, and expertise in the following areas:

  1. Strong leadership skills
  2. Strategic thinking abilities
  3. Passion for the organization's mission
  4. Experience in nonprofit governance
  5. Ability to provide visionary leadership and guidance
  6. Effective communicator and collaborator
  7. Ability to represent the organization externally and build relationships with stakeholders


Duties include:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic guidance to the board and organization.
  • Chair board meetings and facilitate effective decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with the executive director to set the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Durhams Hope for Kids, representing the organization in external engagements.
  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve Durhams Hope For Kids mission
  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and influence public policy
  • Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences on to the board and into the boardroom and the organization.

Durham's Hope For Kids is dedicated to supporting and empowering at-risk youth by actively working to address the issues that contribute to their vulnerability and limited opportunities. Our mission is to create positive and lasting change by focusing on community development, crime prevention, youth development, education and awareness, as well as collaboration and advocacy. Through our efforts, we aim to improve the physical, social, and economic conditions of communities, provide support and opportunities for at-risk youth, and foster a sense of belonging and empowerment. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth, helping them overcome challenges, discover their potential, and build a brighter future.

We envision a community where every young person has the chance to break free from the cycle of vulnerability and limited opportunities, and instead, experience a future filled with hope, success, and positive contributions. Through our dedicated efforts in community development, crime prevention, youth development, education and awareness, as well as collaboration and advocacy, we strive to create a lasting impact and build a stronger, more inclusive society for all.
