Do you have a passion for making a difference? Greater Springfield Senior Services is looking for compassionate individuals to volunteer as advocates for residents of nursing homes, rest homes, and assisted living facilities.

As an Ombudsman, you will:

  • Visit residents regularly to hear their concerns.
  • Address issues affecting their care and quality of life.
  • Work confidentially with the Program Director to investigate and resolve complaints on behalf of residents, families, and other interested parties.

This rewarding role is part of a federally sponsored program through the Older Americans Act. Volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to help them succeed.

Description

Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. provides a wide range of in-home and community-based services to thousands of individuals annually throughout its 12-town service area. Services include case management and assessment, homemaker and personal care, meals-on-wheels, information and referral, caregiver support, long-term care options counseling, adult protective services, community education, nursing home screening and much more. Its team of caring and professional staff strives to make life a little easier for elders and those who care for them by offering information, support, and solutions on a variety of aging issues.
