Heroes Needed to Drive Low-Income Seniors and Those of Different Abilities!

Volunteer Services of Cowlitz/Wahkiakum Counties offers "free" transportation to medical and essential appointments for seniors and people with disabilities. These are individuals who do not have their own transportation and wish to remain independent in their own homes. Generally they do not qualify for a caregiver or other means of transportation and assistance. They depend on the kindness of our volunteers to transport them to essential medical appointments and assist with transportation for groceries. An hour or two of your time will make a big difference in someone's life!

Volunteers are paid a mileage reimbursement, for all miles driven. Volunteers need to be at least 25 years old, have a good driving record, current license and insurance, and a compassionate heart! Volunteers are also covered with an additional Liability insurance policy. Our scheduling is done with a web based program allowing you to volunteer on YOUR time at your convenience.

Help ensure someone can live safely, confidently, and independently in their own home. Volunteer today!

Mission Statement

Volunteer Services (VS) began in 1981 as a community-based, grassroots program designed to provide free basic, essential services for low-income seniors and disabled adults who don't have access to or qualify for assistance from other programs or sources. Serving as a safety net for people who would otherwise "fall through the cracks," the programs primary goal is to help its clients stay in their own homes safely and with dignity while providing a link to the communities in which they live.

Description

Volunteers provide a variety of in-home services that the elderly and adult disabled are no longer able to do for themselves. The hours are flexible and the work is simple. There are also one time opportunities for on-call requests and group projects. Services may include: housework, transportation, shopping, yardwork, minor home repair, moving assistance.
