Role Description
Hope Kids NY is a non-profit organization focused on empowering low-income and marginalized youths within our served communities through programs such as after-school academic assistance, and college readiness programs.

We are currently hiring a tutor to teach coding to Junior High and High School students during the summer. This is a seasonal position lasting between 6-8 weeks. Our ideal candidate will be able to engage students in learning coding while fostering a fun and interactive environment, such as creating games.


Requirements

  • Able to create a curriculum.
  • Advanced level knowledge in either Python, Lua or other languages is a must.
  • A commitment for summer session.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and helping young students

Schedule: 3-hour shift, Monday through Thursday, 16-25 hours

Description

Hope Kids NY was founded with a vision to combat the educational disparities and poverty that plague low-income communities. Through our "Ready, Set, Go to College" program, our major activities revolve around providing comprehensive tutoring in Math, English, and SAT test preparation. Additionally, we offer personalized mentorship and guidance. Our tutors, comprising exceptionally talented and motivated individuals from local colleges and the field of education, engage in innovative and engaging one-on-one sessions. We also collaborate with local businesses to facilitate workshops that equip students with valuable entrepreneurship skills. All at no cost.

Additionally, we have expanded our impact by introducing a "Digital Literacy Class for Immigrants". This project equips newcomers with essential skills to navigate the digital landscape, enhancing their integration and empowerment within the community.
