Come help work on this exciting new habitat restoration project!

ARMN, Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, and the Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria are collaborating with Dominion Hills Area Recreation Association (DHARA) via ASNV's Stretch Our Parks initiative DHARA property. This project will significantly enhance the "wildlife corridor" aspect of the land between Upton Hill and Bluemont parks.

To sign up, copy and paste this link for the SignUp Genius form:
www.signupgenius.com/go/9040A4BA9A92CA31-powhatan1#/

You can park on the far left side of the DHARA (6000 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, 20005) parking lot (near Ashlawn Elementary School). We will gather there and sign in and then migrate as a group to the worksite. Please remember this is private property, and the owners are being kind enough to let us do "our restoration thing" on it.

Wear appropriate clothes (close-toed shoes and long pants) and bring your own water bottle. We will have some gloves, tools, and bug spray for you to use, but feel free to bring your own.

If you have any questions, please direct them to Bill Browning (browningwh@gmail.com) or Carolyn McGavock (caromcg@verizon.net).

About THE AUDUBON SOCIETY OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA INC

Location:

Mission Statement

Audubon Society of Northern Virginia (ASNV) is a chapter of National Audubon Society. Our mission is to engage all Northern Virginia communities in enjoying, conserving, and restoring nature for the benefit of birds, other wildlife, and people. We advance our mission through educational programs, citizen science, and advocacy initiatives. We envision a world where people, wildlife, and their habitats thrive.

Description

Our education programs offer workshops and classes on a variety of birding and other natural history topics while our Audubon at Home program encourages home and other land owners to create wildlife friendly habitat on their properties. At Audubon Afternoons we present speakers on areas of interest to ASNV members and the broader community. During field trips and bird walks we welcome the public and cultivate an appreciation for the outdoor opportunities available in Northern Virginia.

ASNV sponsored counts and surveys contribute to our knowledge of bird and wildlife population trends in Northern Virginia. Concurrently we work in partnership with other conservation organizations and land managers to provide effective stewardship of these populations and their habitats.

Our advocacy efforts address issues impacting wildlife, habitats, and ecosystems by influencing public policies and private practices.
