Mission Statement
Welcome to Animator Supporters, where our primary mission is to address and mitigate the significant challenges facing Japanese animators today. In an industry celebrated for its vibrant creativity and worldwide appeal, many animators grapple with inadequate compensation and demanding work schedules. It's not uncommon for animators to receive as little as $200-$300 per month, a figure starkly insufficient to meet the basic cost of living in Japan. This financial strain is exacerbated by the industry norm of long hours and tight project deadlines, leaving animators overworked and underpaid. Recognizing these hardships, we established the Animator Dormitory, aimed at reducing animators’ living expenses by providing affordable housing. This initiative directly addresses the immediate financial pressures animators face, allowing them to continue their craft with less financial burden.
Description
Our efforts extend beyond immediate relief; we're actively working to challenge and change the industry's underlying structures contributing to these conditions. We produce anime without a production committee, a prevalent model in anime production that often prioritizes profit over the well-being and fair compensation of creative talent.
We not only advocate for a reevaluation of this system but also take concrete steps to produce original, in-house anime, funded by fans for fans.
We completed our first animation, 'Back to You,' led by industry composer Mason Lieberman, last year with a crowdfunded budget of $100,000.

Our goal is to set a precedent for fairer practices in the industry and create good job opportunities for animators, offering them work in an environment that respects their skills and compensates them fairly.
