Under One Roof Fiber Arts is dedicated to teaching sewing and fiber arts to African Immigrant women in the Twin Cities area. UOR is looking for people who love sewing and quilting who would like to share their knowledge with motivated students in a classroom setting. Classes are currently scheduled for 4 days a week in the mornings from 10am to noon. The program needs volunteers who are interested in helping out with classes, either to support the teacher in the classroom, to help with prep work for projects for class, or to teach classes in sewing, quilting, clothing construction and alterations. Teaching can be a short or long term volunteer commitment. Helping a teacher during class or helping with projects is an ideal way to learn about the program before teaching your own class at Under One Roof. We welcome volunteers who want to share a specific project over the period of time needed to complete the project, as well as volunteers who would like to volunteer for a longer period.
