St. Joseph Villa Hospice Volunteers are lay of professional people, who have the tolerance energy and compassion to share themselves with the terminally ill patient and the grieving family. Hospice volunteering can include direct service to patient/families, administrative support or community outreach and special projects. One of the job duties as a volunteer is to be caring, supportive, and empathetic individual who supplements the social, emotional, and spiritual support services of the hospice plan of care.

Mission Statement
The mission of St. Joseph Villa Homecare & Hospice is to provide physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to terminally ill patients, as well as their families and loved ones, while assisting patients and families to live with dignity and comfort as they cope with end-of-life issues.
Description
The Hospice philosophy is based upon caring for the patient and family who are experiencing a terminal illness. Emphasis is placed on improving the quality of life through symptom management, pain control and compassionate support in the comfort of the patient's home or nursing home. The purpose of Hospice care is to enable patients to live as fully and comfortably as possible by ministering to their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, as well as to those needs of their loved ones. Hospice always affirms life, and neither hastens nor postpones death.
