Portland Sunday Parkways seeks volunteers to join the Sunday Parkways (SP) team in managing the routes of Parkways events. Intersection Superheroes are responsible for monitoring intersections along the route. They help with participant traffic flow, answer participants’ questions, redirect neighborhood traffic, and set up or take down intersection barricades. This is a stationary position, though requires frequent standing and moving to address neighbor and driver needs. Volunteers will be provided with training, supplies, snacks, water and a volunteer t-shirt. Superhero Coordinators will supervise sections of the route, assisting Superheroes in their jobs, assessing and addressing problems, and communicating with the Parkways team to ensure a smooth event.

Responsibilities

• Act calmly and communicate clearly in emergency and crisis situations.
• Monitor one or more intersections of the Sunday Parkways Route.
• Help neighbors in cars affected by the closed roads by assisting them on and off the route.
• Provide friendly service and information to Parkways participants.
