Volunteer Opportunity with Hostelling International New York City

Unofficially dubbed the "Borough of Neighborhoods," Brooklyn is a melting pot of cultures and communities, offering an enriching experience for travelers eager to explore its diverse heritage.

Hostelling International New York City (HI NYC) is seeking a volunteer who can lead international travelers on a tour through Brooklyn's vibrant neighborhoods, providing insights into their history and showcasing local eateries and shops!

Neighborhoods to create tours for can include but are not limited to:

  • Brooklyn Heights
  • Park Slope
  • Williamsburg
  • Bed Stuy
  • Bushwick
  • Crown Heights
  • Flatbush
  • Greenpoint
  • DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass)
  • Prospect Heights
  • Ditmas Park
  • Red Hook
  • Sheepshead Bay

Our bustling NYC hostel hosts travelers from across the globe! Our activities aim to teach travelers about New York's rich history, the culture of our local communities/neighborhoods, and of the greater United States.

PURPOSE/DEFINITION and HI USA MISSION

HI USA is 501(c)(3) non-profit education association. Our purpose is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people places and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues we receive through overnight stays and memberships is reinvested in mission delivery.

We bring travelers together in the largest hostel network in the USA, but that’s just the start: from local tours and experiences, to experiential learning programs, HI USA strives to bring moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization that reinvests our surpluses back into our hostels and programs so they can have an even greater impact, year after year.
