Description

Center of Life is seeking a development intern to join our development team. As an intern, you'll receive mentorship in grant proposal preparation, conduct research to identify funding sources aligned with our mission, assist in grant proposal preparation and management, review donor acknowledgment correspondence, and support the Development team in various tasks and projects.

With its roots planted deeply in the community and supported by extraordinary partners, COL serves Hazelwood and its surrounding communities with rich academic out-of-school programs and outstanding experiences in music and arts. COL employs a holistic approach to community through all of its programs, believing that commitment to others is most productive when you walk with those served in their schools, homes, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentorship and Learning: Receive mentorship and guidance from members of the Development team in all aspects of grant proposal preparation and submission.
  • Research, Identification, and Profile Creation: Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources, including foundations and corporations aligned with the organization's mission, and create detailed profiles of prospective funding sources, highlighting their interests, giving history, alignment with COL's mission, and other pertinent details.
  • Grant Application Support: Assist in the preparation, submission, and management of grant proposals. This includes retrieving and compiling necessary background information to strengthen proposals by analyzing websites, application guidelines, and available resources.
  • Donor Communication: Aid in the review of donor acknowledgment correspondence to ensure prompt and meaningful communication with supporters.
  • Team Support: Assist with other tasks and projects as needed to support the overall goals of the Development team and COL

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission of Center of Life.
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgement and impeccable confidentiality in dealing with donor personal data.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school diploma or GED, Bachelor's Degree or degree in process preferred

Work Hours & Duration:

  • 10am - 4pm on any three weekdays up to 20 hours per week for 8-10 weeks beginning June 17.
  • Must be able to attend staff orientation June 17 & 18
  • Hybrid schedule available

Center of Life (COL) is a community-empowerment organization located in the Greater Hazelwood Neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. Our programs focus on music and arts, athletics, and education.

With its roots planted deeply in the community and supported by extraordinary partners, COL serves Hazelwood and its surrounding communities with the rich academic out-of-school programs and outstanding experiences in music and arts. COL employs a holistic approach to community through all of its programs, believing that commitment to others is most productive when you walk with those served in their schools, homes and families.

Center of Life hosts multiple youth programs including The KRUNK Movement, Center of Life Jazz, Fusion, and Camp Hazelwood. These programs combine music, art, dance, academics, and athletics rooted in the academic content areas and curricula of the Pennsylvania Department of Education Academic Standards.

Center of Life also hosts community and family engagement to provide families and community members with the knowledge, tools, and strategies they need to move from surviving to thriving.
