Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented CFO / Treasurer to oversee our financial operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity of our fiscal activities and guiding our financial strategy to maximize our impact on the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax filings and regulations.
  • Manage and report on the organization’s financial status to the Board of Directors and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement robust financial policies and procedures to ensure transparency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align financial management with strategic goals.
  • Lead the annual audit process and maintain relationships with external auditors and financial consultants.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance on fundraising activities, grant management, and capital allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Treasurer, or equivalent role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Expert knowledge of nonprofit financial management, including tax filing, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification highly preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of empowering single mothers and improving community well-being.

Time Commitment:

The CFO/Treasurer role requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per month. Meetings with the board and financial oversight tasks will be scheduled in advance to accommodate your existing commitments. We understand the value of your time and aim to make your volunteer experience both impactful and manageable.

Other Requirements:

Ideal candidates should have a robust background in finance or accounting, preferably with experience in nonprofit settings. You must be proficient in financial software and tools, and have the ability to prepare, analyze, and present financial reports. Integrity, transparency, and a passion for our mission are essential qualities. As this role involves strategic financial planning and oversight, previous experience in financial leadership roles is highly desirable. Candidates must also be willing to undergo a background check as part of the selection process.
