The GHR Diaper Bank receives disposable diapers from many sources, in various quantities, and in a wide range of packaging. In order to make storage, inventory, and distribution easier and simpler, we re-package the diapers we receive into bundles of 25 each by size. We need volunteers to help us with this activity each month.
There are different ways individuals, families, and groups can "wrap" diapers for us. Volunteers can come to the Diaper Bank as individuals or groups up to 15 to work at our facility. Volunteers can pick up boxes of diapers from us, take them home, and wrap there. We can even have boxes of diapers delivered to a volunteer's address so they can wrap when and where they want to. We are flexible about this if you are!
Preparation includes a short training session to learn how we wrap plus obtaining the wrapping materials and labels we use. It's simple to do and a great team-building or family-togetherness activity.

The Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank's mission is to combat "diaper need," a silent crisis brought on by not having the financial resources to keep family members in clean, dry diapers. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, diaper need is a public health issue that impacts 1 in 3 families in America. The ramifications of diaper need can be dramatic and may result is a cascade of devastating emotional and financial consequences for both parents and their children. The Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank is committed to addressing this need in our community. The GHR Diaper Bank is staffed completely by volunteers; and all funds received by the GHR Diaper Bank go directly to purchasing diapers, buying related supplies, and spreading diaper-need awareness.
Description
Since 2012, GHR Diaper Bank has distributed disposable diapers to families in need throughout Hampton Roads. We collect diapers and raise money to purchase diapers and distribute diapers to families in need through a network of more than 40 faith-based and social services organizations.
