Mediate consumer complaints against healthcare providers and insurance, respond to consumer inquiries via our telephone hotline. Applicants should have good vebal and written communications skills and an interest in consumer advocacy. The position takes place in the office and requires a minimum of 10 hours per week, a minimum of 3 hours a day.

The Consumer Protection Divisionprovides a mediation and arbitration service to consumers to help resolve complaints against businesses and health insurance carriers; registers health clubs and new home builders; and produces a wide array of consumer education materials.
Description
Our volunteers provide an invaluable service to Maryland consumers. They respond to consumer inquiries on the telephone hotline, and mediate consumer complaints against businesses and health care providers. They settle disputes in sales, repairs, debt collection, defective products, false advertising, health spas, housing and medical bills. Volunteers receive training in mediation and learn valuable skills.
