Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps (NDMVA) is seeking an Early Education Support Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator to serve as a Full-time AmeriCorps Member at Ellis Early Learning in Boston from August 2024-June 2025.
Ellis Early Learning, "Ellis," (formerly known as Ellis Memorial) is a vibrant, Boston-based nonprofit with a rich history founded in 1885. Ellis provides the highest quality early education and care for infants, toddlers and preschool children. Ellis is among the most socio-economically, racially, and culturally diverse organizations serving children in Boston and is nationally accredited. Through a partnership with Boston Public Schools, it also operates four high-performing community-based UPK classrooms. Ellis operates out of two historic buildings in the South End and a new center in Jamaica Plain and serves over 275 children annually. Learn more about us at www.ellisearlylearning.org.
The AmeriCorps Member will provide direct service in our early education classrooms with young learners and is responsible to help the Volunteer Manager in welcoming, onboarding, training, and supporting other external early education volunteers to ensure their success in classrooms.
Qualifications:
We invite applications from individuals who are over 18 and have a college education.
Applicants should also possess:
The willingness to spend a year in the service of others.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to be flexible, adaptive, and work on a team.
U.S. citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident.
Commitment to serve as a full-time volunteer for 11 months.
AmeriCorps Member Benefits:
- Living Allowance: Because Notre Dame- AmeriCorps is partnered with the Corporation for National and Community Service, we are able to offer our members a yearly living allowance which is distributed bi-weekly over the 11 months term. The pre-tax figure for 2023-2024 is approximately $17,000.
- The Education Award: Upon completion of an 11 month service term, AmeriCorps members receive a taxable education award of approximately $6,500. The education award can be applied to qualified student loans or future education at a Title IV institution.
- Student Loan Forbearance: Members of NDA are eligible for forbearance of federal student loans during their term of service. This means that while a member is serving, he or she does not make payments on his or her qualifying loans. In addition, the National Trust will pay the interest that accrues on the loan at the end of the term of service.
- Optional Low-Cost Community Housing
- Optional Health Insurance: We provide optional healthcare while you serve with NDA.
- Child Care: NDA members may also be eligible for child care benefits.
