Description: Latter Rain Outreach seeks passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization, which is committed to supporting individuals grappling with substance abuse in Kalamazoo County.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide governance to the organization by establishing policies and objectives.
  • Assist in the development of a strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Oversee organization finances, ensuring proper fiscal management and sustainability.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning and regulatory action.
  • Represent Latter Rain Outreach to stakeholders and act as an ambassador for the organization.
  • Participate in fundraising and grant writing efforts to support organizational growth.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Latter Rain Outreach.
  • Strong diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
  • Experience with non-profit governance, fundraising, and community outreach preferred.
  • Residents of Kalamazoo County or individuals with strong ties to the community are highly desired.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend monthly board meetings (2 hours per month).
  • Participate in committee work and special events (2-4 hours per month).
  • The term length is two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Description

Latter Rain Outreach originated from the heart of its founder Brenda Henry. She desires to touch the lives of individuals experientially and holistically. Brenda is well acquainted with the life of addiction and how it affects individuals, children, families, and the community. Brenda is a certified Recovery Coach.

Latter Rain Outreach provides safe and supportive environments, and programs that will change lives and empower individuals suffering from substance abuse. Latter Rain Outreach provides recovery housing (Abigail's Palace) to women and individuals in Kalamazoo county, substance abuse-related workshops, family support, and individual recovery coach sessions free of charge.

Latter Rain Outreach (Abigail's Palace) has provided recovery housing to more than 60 women since the opening of its doors in 2017. Latter Rain Outreach is an organization that is in direct response to the growing number of people suffering from substance abuse.
