ORGANIZATION: Elite Hospice

Administrative volunteer- Office duties to include admission packets and making phone calls to patients and families. Mailing bereavement letters. Clerical duties.

Patient Care Volunteer- Must be 18. Help patients with light housekeeping. Running errands. Provide companionship or read stories. This also can allow the caregiver to step away for appointments or other things and the patient not be left alone.

Bereavement Volunteer- This position may do bereavement visits with the bereaved. May also attend our bereavement support groups with patient. Make phone calls to check in on bereaved. Provide compassionate support the families of patients.

Professional Volunteer- This position would allow someone with a professional license that is still active to be able to utilize their professional skills to assist hospice patients.

Description

Hospice is a form of compassionate and quality care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury. Hospice is a special program designed to make the end-of-life experience a positive one, the goal is to make the patient comfortable and support the family through this challenging time. A hospice volunteer is someone who wishes to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill, which can include providing companionship, listening or simply being there for a patient, reading a book, simple crafts, watching a movie or writing letters. If you are interested in spending an hour or two a week or a month, please reach out to us for more details. Training can come to you and is provided at no cost.
