Want to make a difference in your community? Help ensure that the more than 1 million hungry Hoosiers have food on their table and go to bed healthy and happy by joining Gleaners team of dedicated volunteers.

The Volunteer Outreach team extends the reach of our dedicated staff by representing the food bank at speaking engagements, volunteer or employee fairs, and community events.

Volunteer duties include:

• Engage with the community and encourage them to learn more about Gleaners
• Speaking about Gleaners services and volunteer opportunities
• Answer questions and provide information

*Volunteers will receive a 1-hour Gleaners 101 training session prior to attending their first community event.
*Volunteers will need to have completed at least three volunteer shifts at Gleaners prior to joining the Volunteer Outreach team (so you can easily speak to all things Gleaners when you're out in the community).

Volunteer shifts will vary throughout the year based on events and programming, but will include events like: Indy Black Expo, Indy Pride, Familia Fest, Indyvolved, and more!

Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment

Position Requirements

• Need to complete at least three volunteer shifts at Gleaners prior to joining the Volunteer Outreach Team
• Need to complete Gleaners 101 training prior to attending first community engagement event
• Ages 18+.
• Should be comfortable standing for a three-hour shift and carrying up to 15 pounds. Some accommodations can be made.
