A-HOME provides housing for approximately 150 independent individuals in shared housing and apartments in Northern Westchester. When there is a vacancy in our housing Admission Committee volunteers assist with the interviewing process of the potential applicant. Case managers gather the required information and do first interviews and then prepare a packet including a summary for committee volunteers. We ask that two committee members sit with the case manager at a second interview as the final screening of the applicant. Members have the freedom to participate or not depending upon their own schedule and can participate via Zoon if unable to come into the office in Mount Kisco. On average Committee members participate in 6 to 10 interviews a year. In addition to the interviews the committee meets quarterly either in person or via zoom.
