Volunteers are a critically important piece of our operation here at the Flathead Food Bank.

Our neighbors in the Flathead Valley have always been generous with their time, energy and talents. Without the help of our volunteers, we physically could not operate or maintain the programs in place to feed those in need in our community.

Volunteer opportunities include stocking of the store’s shelves, sorting food, interviewing customers, entering data, bagging groceries, cleaning, repacking perishable food, collecting donated goods, and delivering food to senior citizens.

Anyone can volunteer! Individuals, families, and groups from your workplace, church, or school can all contribute to our efforts to end hunger in the Flathead Valley. You can even bring your children, as long as they are supervised by a parent or guardian. Teenagers and young people can come alone, as long as they are old enough to stay on task unsupervised.

Mission Statement

The Flathead Food Bank strives to eliminate hunger in the Flathead Valley through collaborative partnerships creating effective solutions to connect and strengthen individuals, families and the community through access to healthy nutritious food.

Description

The Flathead Food Bank holds a pivotal role in Kalispell, Montana and the broader Flathead Valley. The Flathead Food Bank strives to eliminate hunger in the Flathead Valley through collaborative partnerships creating effective solutions to connect and strengthen individuals, families and the community through access to healthy nutritious food. As the largest food bank and pantry in the Flathead Valley and Northwestern Montana, it has been addressing food insecurity since 1982, combating hunger through diverse programs established over four decades.

Unfortunately, the Flathead Food Bank has witnessed a surge in demand over the past few years, attributed to a population influx into Montana and the Flathead Valley. This unexpected and exponential increase in residents has strained the community's resources. Consequently, the food bank has experienced a rise in visits, particularly from working families, the elderly, and the unsheltered.

The impact of the Flathead Food Bank extends through a range of programs, including its food pantry, food rescue program, kids backpack program, school snack program, senior commodities, mobile food pantry, and its service as a food bank to other pantries statewide.
