Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center

When: Sundays, 1:30pm-5:00pm
Monday thru Thursday between 8a-5p, we are flexible.

Requirements: Must be at least 18, Background check, Complete Orientation, and Training, TB Test

Mission: Our mission is to promote a positive atmosphere where individuals, families/guardians, staff, and the community can be encouraged to be engaged in faith and culturally diverse interactive experiences that are inspiring spiritually, emotionally, and socially. To facilitate and support moral health and well-being by acknowledging and empowering everyone while treating them with dignity and respect.

Description: The Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center provides on-campus and off-campus direct services and support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are medically fragile and behavioral health conditions and challenges.

Opportunities: The Chaplain Volunteer Program offers opportunities to serve as mentors and encouragers with individuals diagnosed with IDD. If you are interested in serving as a Chaplain Volunteer, you must apply with the Chaplaincy Department. ( Chaplain Volunteer Application - https://s.surveyplanet.com/6aoqbrir). Chaplain Volunteers serve 2-3 hours a week, usually on Sunday to assist with leading Sunday services in two areas. Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, providing one-on-one emotional and spiritual support. Other benefits include ongoing training and experience working with individuals that are diagnosed with IDD.

Mission: To function as a public relations and marketing body for the facility by informing the community of the residents’ and facility needs; eliciting their contribution and participation to fulfill them; and, promoting community awareness of current and clear accomplishments and responsibilities of the facility. Vision: The residents of Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center will have available to them community, financial, volunteer, and material supports to meet needs not funded, due to fiscal and regulatory limitations, by the state.

Description

The Volunteer Services Council of the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center (VSC) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit tax exempt, fundraising organization incorporated in 1973. The VSC is ran by the Board of Directors who serve as liaisons between CCSSLC and the community. The VSC existence is to serve the residents of the Living Center by making material supports available to them. Due to limitations of state funding, we depend upon the generosity of people and organizations to help us provide the extras that others often take for granted.
