VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position OverviewAt Believe in Me, we envision a future where every child has the self-confidence they need to succeed. We are a dedicated team, funding and supporting children's charities that provide marginalized kids with a safe place to call home, a loving family, a sense of community, and ample opportunities to learn, grow, self-esteem, and experience joy. We are currently developing the 1st Gen College Hub app, aimed at empowering first-generation college students with comprehensive resources, personalized guidance, and a supportive community.
Role Summary:
As a Volunteer Social Media Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our digital presence and community engagement across various social media platforms. Your creativity, strategic thinking, and passion for storytelling will help amplify our mission, engage our audience, and drive awareness of the 1st Gen College Hub app. You will collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers to create compelling content that resonates with our audience and reflects our core values of caring, trustworthiness, innovation, and fairness.
Key Responsibilities- Content Creation and Management: Develop and manage a content calendar that aligns with our project milestones, promotional campaigns, and community events. Create engaging, informative, and visually appealing content tailored to each social media platform.
- Audience Engagement: Actively engage with our community on social media by responding to comments, messages, and engaging in conversations that foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and report on the performance of social media campaigns and organic content. Use insights to inform future content strategies and increase engagement and reach.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing and Outreach Team to ensure cohesive messaging across all communication channels. Participate in cross-functional meetings to align on project goals and promotional strategies.
- Brand Advocacy: Represent and advocate for the Believe in Me mission in all social media activities. Ensure all content is consistent with our brand voice, mission, and values.
- Proven experience managing social media platforms for a brand, nonprofit, or similar organization.
- Strong understanding of social media trends, analytics tools, and content marketing strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with a knack for storytelling and creating engaging content.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, volunteer-driven environment.
- Passion for Believe in Me's mission and a commitment to empowering marginalized communities.
- Creative, innovative thinker willing to contribute ideas and take initiative on new projects.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Proven experience in application security or a related field, with a strong understanding of security protocols, cryptography, and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with security assessment tools and methodologies, including penetration testing and security auditing.
- Knowledge of web and mobile application development and the associated security risks and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and act swiftly in response to security incidents.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with a remote, volunteer-based team.
- A passion for cybersecurity and a commitment to using your skills to make a positive impact in the community.
This is a remote volunteering position with flexible hours to accommodate volunteers from various time zones.
